Round 2: new call for innovative media startups

Right after ending our round 1 of 2017, MediaMatters has opened the call for startups and scale-ups for the 2nd round. We are looking for international oriented startups and scale-ups that can provide added value for media companies and are active in the areas of content, advertising and technology.

The call will be open till September 15. If you are interested in our program, you can register here. After closing the call we will invite 15 - 20 startups to participate in our MatchMaking Days, October 25 - 27. This is a 2,5 day program with coaching and guiding by several experts. We help you to refine your value proposition and to align it with the challenges of our media companies.


At the end of the MatchMaking Days the startups and scale-ups get the opportunity to pitch for the media companies to see if there is a match. In the case of a match we offer a one month guided collaboration program for the startups and media companies.

The previous MatchMaking Days in May have resulted in 27 matches between our media companies and startups. In more than 10 cases this has led to concrete talks about a contract or pilot. We expect the first deals in the coming weeks.

Media companies

At the moment, 6 media companies are participating in MediaMatters. They are the public broadcasters NPO, AVROTROS and EO, the Persgroep Netherlands, the newspaper Nederlands dagblad and the weekly De Groene Amsterdammer. For round 2, we expect more leading Dutch media companies to join.
